Mad City Fire on Ice hockey tournament this weekend

MADISON (WKOW) -- Some of Madison's bravest will take to the ice this weekend for the second annual Mad City Fire on Ice hockey tournament, and it's all for a good cause.

Madison Firefighters Hockey Club is hosting the hockey tournament at the Madison Ice Arena on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Eight teams of firefighters from Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota will face-off on the large rink. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

There will be more than 20 games of competitive hockey on two rinks, a half-rink charity shot competition for a chance to win $10,000, a sled hockey exhibition game with UW Badgers hockey players, the Remembrance Rescue Project mobile memorial display, the Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company Beer Garden, and raffles and a silent auction for weekend getaways, premium Packers tickets and other great items.

The money raised will go towards Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin, Local 311 Charities and adaptive skating programs for youth at Madison Ice Inc.

Nicole Williams, the Madison regional director for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin, joins us on 27 News at 5 on Tuesday to talk about the tournament.
