Rock County man arrested for mistreating horse

TOWN OF BRADFORD (WKOW) -- The Rock County Sheriff's Office says a 70-year-old man has been arrested for mistreating one of his own horses.

Authorities say they responded to a complaint on the 8800-block of East Rye Drive on April 19. Through an investigation, Rock County officials say they were able to determine Jack Tuls had intentionally mistreated a full-grown Fresian stallion named Davy.

Authorities say Davy was "skin and bones" and had to be put down. "In the veterinarians opinion, expert opinion, the animal succumbed simply because of malnourishment," Captain Jude Maurer says.

Tuls was schedules to appear in court Thursday afternoon. Maurer says there are still six horses on his farm, but the Rock County Sheriff's Office can search his property at any time to check on their welfare.
