Doctor's trial to be moved out of Eau Claire County

Eau Claire (WQOW) - The trial for a well-known Eau Claire doctor accused of sexual assault will be moved to another county.

A judge made that ruling on Thursday in the case of Dr. David Van de Loo.  He's accused of sexually assaulting more than a dozen patients.  The judge agreed with Van de Loo's lawyers.  They said the extensive news coverage of the charges and of allegations made in civil lawsuits against the doctor would make it difficult to find an unbiased jury.

The trial is expected to be moved to a county outside the coverage area of local news media.  An exact location will be picked at a hearing next month.  That trial is expected to last about three weeks.
