Bill would rework WI vehicle lemon law

MADISON (WKOW) -- A new bill being circulated in the state Legislature would rework Wisconsin's vehicle lemon law.

Republicans Rep. Bill Kramer of Waukesha and Sen. Jerry Petrowski say the current law allows lawyers to win unfair awards.

The bill would allow judges and juries to decide awards, instead of mandatory double damages for consumers. It would also shorten the statute of limitations for civil suits and give manufacturers more time to provide the consumer with a comparable vehicle or refund.
