Former officer agrees never to work in law enforcement as part of plea bargain

Posted:

(WQOW) - A former Stanley police officer accused of sexual assault has agreed to never work in law enforcement again as part of a plea bargain.

Terry Karlen was charged with sexually assaulting a woman last summer. She told investigators she asked Karlen, who was off-duty, to give her a ride home because she had been drinking and did not want to drive. She claimed he drove her to a cemetery and sexually assaulted her.

In return for resigning from his job and giving up his credentials for life, the sexual assault charge was reduced to a disorderly conduct. Karlen pleaded no contest and was fined.
