Eau Claire (WQOW) -- It's a historical day at Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran H.S., as Abbie Hein becomes the first Lancers athlete to sign a Division I letter of intent.
Hein makes it official, Monday, signing her women's college basketball letter of intent with the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.
"It's pretty cool and it's nice to have such the support that I've had through the whole thing," Hein says.
As the all-time leading scorer in ECIL girls basketball, Hein had a number of options, but she says she felt at home during a visit to UMBC.
"I could tell right away that I could really see myself going to school there and I really liked them both athletically and also academically," says Hein, "it'll be a good challenge and a really good experience."
