Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Two players from Eau Claire Memorial's WIAA State Boys Hockey championship team were selected Tuesday in the USHL Draft.
Old Abes forward Jacob Bresser went to the Waterloo Blackhawks in the 15th round, while fellow junior Charley Graaskamp was selected by the Tri-City Storm in the 22nd round.
Both players have decisions to make: jump to the USHL for next season, or put that off another year to play their senior seasons at Memorial.
"Really, I just want to make the right decision," says Bresser, "I don't want to rush anything or fall behind. Got a good program here [at Memorial] so there's nothing to rush into. I don't want to go there if I'm not going to be able to play that much. I want to get some quality ice time wherever I am. It's a decision I'm going to have to make pretty soon here after the tryout in camp."
"At the end of the day you want to do what's best for you, and your career," says Graaskamp, "and so I guess it's going to take a lot of talking over, and we'll see what happens with the tryouts, where I would fit in with the team. If not, I'm in a great situation here with coach Schwengler [Memorial coach Mike Schwengler] and hopefully the Team Wisconsin program again."
In June, both Bresser and Graaskamp will take part in tryout camps with their respective USHL teams, and will look make their decisions after those camps.
