Roberts girl holding bake sale to help out school damaged by fire

Roberts (WQOW) - A student at a western Wisconsin school devastated by fire is helping the school bounce back with baked goods.

Miranda Halverson is a first grader in Roberts where police say a man set fire to the elementary school two weeks ago. Classes are now being held at a Girl Scout camp, but students were left without books, supplies and other necessities. Miranda's mom says her little girl was upset about the fire, and wanted to help. She told her mom she wanted to raise a thousand dollars. So they're having a bake sale. Miranda helped her mom make cookies today, and friends and area restaurants and bakeries are contributing.

The sale is Saturday from nine to four at the Wal-Mart in Hudson, and starting at one on Sunday.  Her mom says what better way for people to celebrate Mother's Day than to help children.  Area schools are also pitching in.  Durand students, parents and staff collected three truckloads of books and supplies, and almost a thousand dollars for the school in Roberts.
