Go Red for Women celebrates 10th year

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Heart disease is the number one killer of women.

But Friday, hundreds joined the fight against it.

The American Heart Association held its annual Go Red for Women luncheon at Monona Terrace.

WKOW is a proud sponsor of the event and Amber Noggle served as the emcee.

This year our viewers helped to choose the winner of our Mother's Day Heart Story Contest.

Lisa Jakusz from Stevens Point was nominated by her daughter Sarah.

Sarah has a congenital heart defect and says her mom has spent her life making sure she gets the best care possible.

"We kinda have a motto at our house, the four of us, we're kinda stuck like glue. So, you get one of us, you get all of us. And the fact that is you stick together and you put your heart in it, you can get through anything in life," says Lisa.

She won a $500 gift card to Blain's Farm and Fleet and $500 gift basket from WKOW.
