Human remains found in Taylor Co., no ID yet

TAYLOR COUNTY (WKOW) -- Authorities in north central Wisconsin are working to identify human remains found in Taylor County.

WAOW-TV reports Lincoln County officials spent Friday searching a wooded area near Medford for evidence. Details about the remains, including the possible age and gender, were not revealed.

Lincoln County currently has three open missing persons cases. Authorities haven't said yet whether any of those cases are connected. Lincoln County investigators were also out searching on Friday.

Larry Sprotte tells WAOW he and his wife found what they thought was a pile of clothes near their home, but quickly realized it was human remains and called police.

The Wisconsin State Crime Lab and Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation were helping to identify the remains.
