2-year anniversary of IL boy's disappearance in WI

ANTIOCH, IL (WKOW) -- Sunday marks two years since a 6-year-old boy went missing after spending time in Wisconsin with his mother.

Timothy Pitzen was last seen in May 2011, in security camera footage at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Police say his mother Amy Anderson took Timothy out of school in Aurora, IL days earlier, then traveled through Racine and Johnson Creek.

On May 12, 2011 Amy was found dead of an apparent suicide in a Rockford hotel room, leaving a note saying only that Timothy was alright. Police have been searching for the boy ever since.

Not knowing what happened has been hard on Timothy's grandmother, Alana Anderson.

"We hoped so hard the first year that they would find him and it just hasn't happened, but now I just feel...I just hope he's happy," Anderson says. "Of all the horrible decisions she made that day, I just hope she made a good one in where she sent him."

Alana says no one in the family knew her daughter was contemplating suicide.

Aurora police continue to investigate this case. They ask that anyone with information to call (630) 256-5500. The family remains in regular contact with police.
