Crews called to wildfire in Eau Claire County

Eau Claire County (WQOW) - Firefighters were busy Sunday afternoon putting out a grass fire in Eau Claire County, something they are concerned about as the weather continues to warm up.

Township Fire Department was called to a wildfire in the town of Washington this afternoon. No one was injured, and a quarter of an acre burned. But they say wildfires are an increasing danger as summer approaches.

"The cool temperatures sometimes fool people, but with the steady winds it still is drying. We still have a lot of ground clutter, leaves, and grass the newer grass hasn't pushed through yet. Our temperatures are going to be rising, and with lower humidity, it makes for great fire conditions," said Lt. Jon Standiford of the Township Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
