Ice creeps up on houses off a MN lake

LAKE MILLE LACS, MN (WKOW) -- The National Weather Service says consistent strong winds caused huge ice sheets to creep up the Lake Mille Lacs shoreline in northern Minnesota.

WCCO-TV reports the ice crawled into doors and windows at Izatys Resort Saturday morning.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Shawn Devinny says 30 to 40 mile an hour winds pushed the water into ice Saturday.

The Department of Natural Resources says about 10 miles of shoreline are covered, with some ice as tall as 30 feet.

Much warmer weather is expected this week that will melt the ice.
