Confluence Project developers provide an update to Eau Claire city council

Eau Claire (WQOW)- Developers give the Eau Claire city council an update on the Confluence Project.

Last week, developers announced they will no longer pursue state funding for the student housing portion of the downtown project.  That portion will be privately funded and operated.  Other parts of the project include a community arts center and retail space.  Developers are asking the city council for ten million dollars for the project, along with another 25 million from the state.

Developers say the project has many layers and there are a lot of questions as to how it will be operated and what will be included. "With respect to how we get that done, it's extraordinarily difficult to do that," says Dan Clumpner of Commonweal Development. "And where we've been for the past several months is 'How do we get this done?"

On Wednesday a report will be released from VenuWorks, a firm that studied how the project might be operated.
