Walker says IRS screening 'more than political'

MADISON (WKOW) -- Gov. Scott Walker says the IRS's screening of conservative political groups seeking tax-exempt status is "more than just a political scandal."

Walker commented Tuesday on the issue after he and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal sent a letter urging President Barack Obama to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the case.

Walker says the extra scrutiny of conservative groups by the IRS is "a real threat to our freedoms." He says the issue is much bigger than a temporary political story out of Washington and everyone should be concerned about the IRS targeting certain groups.

In their letter, Jindal and Walker call the allegations "Big Brother come to life."

Both Walker and Jindal are potential Republican candidates for president in 2016.
