Hundreds turn out for "Behind the Badge"

Eau Claire (WQOW) - More than 300 people turn out for a special documentary in Eau Claire.

Heroes Behind the Badge told the stories of law enforcement officers caught in the line of fire.  The film also featured family members who've lost loved ones. They talked about the importance of the National Memorial in Washington.  For the families of many law enforcement officers inside Micon Cinemas Tuesday night, the documentary truly hit home.

"I'll be honest, I would say this film probably represents most spouses greatest fears, but the reality is I'm very proud of being the spouse of a police officer. I understand our lifestyle is a little different than a lot of other spouses' lifestyles, and I have to take solace in knowing that my husband is very well trained, he's provided good training, he provides good training for others, and for that I can only have faith that he's going to everything that he can do to keep himself and his colleagues safe at night," says Heidi Eliopoulos, wife of an Eau Claire Police Officer.

This is National Police Week in which we pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.  Wednesday morning there will be a special ceremony honoring law enforcement members in Eau Claire. It starts at 10 a.m. at Florian Gardens.
