WI monk denies child abduction charges

WAUKEGAN, IL (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin monk denies accusations that he tried to abduct four Illinois girls.

According to the Waukegan News-Sun, 57-year-old Thomas Chmura was arraigned Tuesday in Lake County. Authorities say he tried to lure a 14-year-old girl, two 12-year-old girls and an 11-year-old girl into his car last month. During the hearing he denied the child abduction charges.

He's currently at the Lake County Jail on $150,000 bond. Chmura lives at St. Benedict's Abbey in Benet Lake. He was arrested based on a description provided by the girls.
