Friends stop in Madison during 6500 mile bike ride to Alaska

MADISON (WKOW) -- Two men started in New York City and are biking their way to Alaska.

Madison marks 1000 out of their 6500 mile bike trip. They're leaving Thursday morning to continue their journey. Chandler Wild and Connor Lynch left New York City on April 15th, 2013 with their bicycles and equipment.

They're filming a narrative documentary focusing on Chandler. He's traveling to Homer, Alaska in honor of his father who died in 2007. Chandler says he wants to name a mountain after his father.

Mount Lawrence Film has been filming the documentary. According to Google Maps, the drive to Homer, Alaska would take 66 hours. The trip will take them about 5 months by bike. They have been stopping in various cities around the United States, including parts of Canada. They will travel through British Columbia and the Yukon.

Chandler and Connor will arrive in Homer, Alaska in September of this year. They have supplies in order to fix any problems on the bikes and a small stove to cook meals while on the road.
