Clinic closing for good on Friday

Chippewa Falls (WQOW)- After more than 25 years of serving the community, Planned Parenthood in Chippewa Falls will be closing its doors for good on Friday.

Governor Walker cut $1 million of funding from Planned Parenthood during the state's last budget.  Without that assistance from the state, the Chippewa Falls location can't afford to stay open anymore.

"We were able to sustain the health centers without the state funding for about a little over a year," explains Public Policy Director Nicole Safar.  "Without it and it just got to the point where we are a non-profit healthcare provider and the margin is really narrow and losing that chunk, there was no way we could make it up."

The Planned Parenthood location in Eau Claire is still open so patients who went to the Chippewa center can go there instead.
