EUGENE, OR - North Carolina scored the winning run in the top of the 8th on a foul ball out that resulted in a runner tagging from third and scoring to give the UNC a 3-2 win over Wisconsin in the first round of the NCAA Regional on Friday in Eugene.
North Carolina shortstop Kristen Brown hit a pop up foul ball just beyond the third base bag that Wisconsin third baseman Michelle Mueller caught for the second out of the inning.
Unfortunately for the Badgers, Mueller was unable to get up in time to throw out North Carolina right fielder Elisha Elliott who scored easily from third base while beating out Mueller's throw.
The Badgers will face the loser of Oregon/BYU on Friday at 4pm CT in the double elimination tournament.
