Rock Co. man arrested for trying to shoot at police officer

CLINTON (WKOW) -- Authorities in Rock County arrested a man they say got into a fight with a police officer and tried to shoot him.

58-year-old Terry Robinson faces tentative charges of attempted homicide, along with the battery and disarming of a police officer.

The Rock County Sheriff's Department says an officer met Robinson after a call to an apartment on the 700 block of Carol Street in Clinton.

Authorities say the officer reported he was attacked by Robinson shortly after arriving on scene. They say Robinson took the officer's gun and tried to fire it, but was disarmed before pulling the trigger.

Other officers then came and helped arrest Robinson.

Authorities say neither the officer or the suspect appear to have any serious injuries.

Robinson was taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
