MADISON (WKOW) -- A federal grand jury has indicted a Milwaukee surgeon on 13 counts of federal health care fraud.

Forty-four-year-old Cully White faces up to 10 years in prison and $250,000 on each count if he's convicted.

Prosecutors say White recruited another physician identified only as K.B. in the indictment to dictate reports making it look like K.B. had conducted nerve monitoring during White's surgeries. K.B. had no training or experience in nerve monitoring and never actually performed any monitoring.

White still used the second physician's reports to submit claims to insurance companies seeking payment for K.B.'s services. He received $82,000 and paid K.B. $14,850.

The grand jury returned the indictment in Milwaukee on Tuesday. Prosecutors announced the charges on Thursday.

White's attorney didn't immediately return a message.
