WIAA girls basketball tournament likely to remain in Green Bay

GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin state high school girls basketball tournament may not be coming back to Madison anytime soon.

The WIAA voted to begin contract negotiations to extend the tournament's run in Green Bay through 2020.

The tournament had been held in Madison until this year.

The group that put together the tournament says they made a strong impression on the WIAA.

"I have a couple people that are pretty excited and as I said to deb Hauser I said when the contracts done lets pop some corks and I think we will be doing that," said Cora Haltaufderheid of PMI Entertainment Group.

The WIAA and PMI are hoping to have a signed contract by the end of summer
