Rally Round the Flag: Civil War Living History in Evansville

EVANSVILLE (WKOW) -- The 3rd annual Rally Round the Flag: Civil War Living History event will be in Evansville this weekend.

Saturday and Sunday there will be demonstrations of Civil War home front activities like artillery, infantry, cavalry and camp cooking. There will also be a Civil War rededication and parade.

Most activities are at Lake Leota Park.

The cannon barrel was cast in 1863 and it was vandalized decades ago.  Baker Manufacturing is restoring it now. Allen Baker, the guy who founded Baker Manufacturing, fought in the Civil War and was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg, also in 1863.  When the cannon is completed, it will be placed in front of City Hall.
