Janesville man arrested for 5th OWI offense after hit & run accident

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- A Janesville man has been arrested for his 5th OWI offense after a hit and run accident.

Janesville police units responded to the 300 block of South Randall Avenue on Tuesday about 9 p.m. for a hit and run accident. After the accident, the suspect ran away. The license plate was 438-TXY. Police came back with an address on the 1900 block of Tamarack Lane.

Police units responded to the address and found the suspect. The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Steven Estep of Janesville.

Estep denied being the driver of the vehicle, but showed signs of intoxication. He was given a field sobriety test. Estep was taken into custody and booked into the Rock County Jail.

He faces charges for his 5th OWI offense and hit and run to an unattended vehicle.
