Witnesses hear 4 to 6 gun shots fired in the Town of Beloit


BELOIT (WKOW) -- Police search for a suspect after a report of shots fired in the Town of Beloit.

The incident happened on Tuesday about 10:30 p.m. Police were notified of shots fired on the 1900 block of South Wisconsin Avenue. Officers from the Town of Beloit, the City of Beloit and the Rock County Sheriff's Department responded to the call.

According to the Beloit Police Department, a vehicle parked in a driveway was the target of the shooting. The vehicle was not occupied and no injuries were reported. It appears the vehicle was hit by four rounds and witnesses reported hearing four to six gun shots.

Police say the shooting incident may be related to a road rage incident. The shooting suspect was in a newer silver or gray 4-door car with Illinois plates. It was last seen northbound on South Wisconsin Avenue.

Officers are continuing to interview witnesses.
