What to expect when traveling over the holiday weekend

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - Many of us are packing our bags as the holiday weekend draws near.

AAA says nearly 685,000 Wisconsin residents will travel more than 50 miles over Memorial Day weekend. That's down about 1.5% compared to last year.

In the meantime, the DOT says it will put a stop to most road construction around the state by Friday at noon. But you still might encounter narrow lanes, rough pavement and traffic backups.

I-94 in Trempealeau, Eau Claire, and St. Croix Counties are some of the areas you might run into problems. Traffic is expected to be the worst from noon to eight on Friday, and during those same hours on Monday.
