UK police: Soldier killed in apparent terror attack

LONDON (WKOW) -- British police have confirmed that the man killed in an apparent terror attack was a serving soldier.

Police said Thursday morning that they believe they know the man's identity but will not be releasing it at his family's request. A post-mortem examination will be conducted later Thursday.

The man was attacked near an army barracks Wednesday afternoon. Police shot and wounded the assailants and took them into custody. A British official says both suspects were part of previous security services investigations for possible terror links.

More information about the investigation was not released because the suspects may face trial.
