Bridge collapse caught on camera

MOUNT VERNON, WA (WKOW) -- It could be weeks to months before a replacement bridge is in place in Mount Vernon, Washington.

A section of the bridge over the Skagit River collapsed Thursday night.

New video shows the moment when the bridge went down.
Authorities say a truck's load hit an overhead girder as it was crossing the bridge.

They're now looking for a pre-fabricated structure to replace the damaged section.

Three people and two cars fell into the river when the bridge collapsed.

20-year-old Bryce Kenning was on his way to play hockey with friends when it happened.

He says he tried to stop his car, but there was nothing he could do.

"It was a huge impact . All the airbags went off the car started to rush with water and that's when I kinda thought I wasn't going to make it."

Kenning eventually kicked out his windshield and climbed to the top of his car, where rescuers found him.

He was released from the hospital Thursday night with a bump on his head and a possible concussion.

The two other victims came away with minor injuries.
