Beaver Dam woman hikes to Washington D.C. to raise autism awareness


BEAVER DAM (WKOW) -- A woman from Beaver Dam will leave on Saturday, June 2 to embark on an adventure of a lifetime.

She's hiking to Washington D.C. from Wisconsin to raise awareness about autism.

Diane Burgbacher will leave from her home in Beaver Dam. The purpose of the hike is to meet with senators and congressmen with the hope of developing new legislation to positively impact the educational needs of autistic children.

Diane has two autistic grandchildren and an autistic daughter. Diane says she has seen the struggles families go through on a day-to-day basis.

Diane joins Katie Priebe on Wake Up Wisconsin Weekend.
