Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz, is flying into Madison. It's playing at the Overture Center through Sunday, June 9th.
One of the main characters, Fiyero stopped by the set of Wake Up Wisconsin to share a few behind the scenes secrets and to talk about the hit show.
David Perlow, who plays Fiyero, says the run in Madison has been great so far. The cast has really enjoyed the area, particularly State Street and the Overture theater. Perlow says the theater is beautiful and sounds beautiful.
After the Madison shows wraps up, he says the Wicked cast will head to Milwaukee, then down to Texas.
Variety calls Wicked "a cultural phenomenon," and when it last played Madison, it broke box office records and sold out in record time. Winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, Wicked is "Broadway's biggest blockbuster" (The New York Times). Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One — born with emerald green skin — is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for "the most complete — and completely satisfying—new musical in a long time" (USA Today).
