UPDATE: Person of interest in custody after multiple calls of shots fired


FITCHBURG/MADISON (WKOW) -- Police say they have a person of interest in custody after multiple reports of shots being fired in Fitchburg and Madison.

The Madison Police Department says officers took the person of interest into custody shortly before 3:00 p.m. Friday.

In Madison, a 24-year-old man says he was driving east on Raymond Rd. just past Whitney Way shortly after 5:00 p.m. Thursday when a passenger in another car fired a handgun at him. A bullet hole was later found on the driver's side of the car.

Later, shots were fired in the 4300 block of Britta Parkway. Police say two bullets hit an apartment building, but there are no reports of any injuries.

The same night, police in Fitchburg say shots were fired around 9:00 p.m. in the 3300 block of Leopold Way.

Officers from both departments are trying to determine if the separate calls of shots being fired are connected.


FITCHBURG (WKOW) -- Fitchburg police were called to investigate a report of shots fired.

It happened Thursday night around 9:00 in the 3300 block of Leopold Way.  The investigation revealed a building was struck several times by gunfire.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.  Fitchburg police continue to investigate.
