DATCP now investigating complaints over promotional mailer mistake

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is now investigating complaints over a promotional mailer from Metro Ford of Madison.

The company sent out 35,000 promotional mass mailers this month for a sales event. Some customers say a scratch-off game revealed they won $25,000 from the car dealership, but when they tried to redeem the card, the dealership said the event was canceled due to a printing error.

The dealership posted a notice on its website alerting customers of the error, asking them to bring in the mailer before the end of the month to exchange it for a gift card.

DATCP says it received six complaints this week about the promotion. Officials are now trying to determine whether there have been any violations of state consumer laws.
