Kenosha businessman fatally shot in Jamaica

KENOSHA (WKOW) – A Kenosha businessman is dead after getting caught in the crossfire of a shooting in western Jamaica on Saturday.

Fifty-two-year-old David Barnes owns Cost Cutters salons in Kenosha, Racine, Sturtevant and Burlington.  The Cost Cutters regional office confirmed his death.

Friends say Barnes cared about his community and was on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha.  According to Kenosha News, club spokesman Ron Stevens says Barnes was a big part of the organization and its history.

The U.S. Embassy says Barnes' family has been notified of his death and they are waiting for an official report from Jamaican authorities.

Barnes was shot when police confronted gunmen who were trying to commit a robbery.
