Final committee action slated on Walker budget

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Legislature's budget committee is ready to vote on major pieces of Gov. Scott Walker's budget on Tuesday.

Major pieces to be voted on in clued income tax cuts, private school voucher expansions, public education funding and Medicaid.

Walker and Republican legislative leaders have been working in secret to make deals that will get the budget through both the Senate and Assembly.  Republicans have a majority in both houses.

However, Democrats are calling on Republicans to reject the voucher expansion and tax cut plans in order to invest more money in public schools.

Democrats also want Republicans to accept a federally funded Medicaid expansion, something Walker has rejected and has said he expects to be passed by the Legislature.
