Altoona (WQOW) - A classroom grant in Altoona could help shape future engineers.
WQOW News 18 and RCU presented Wendy Nelson, Altoona physics and chemistry teacher, with a Tools for Schools award. She applied for the $300 grant hoping to add more sensors. The technology is used to collect real-time data for science experiments or projects. She says, with tight budgets, they've been unable to buy the supplies they need.
"There are so many doors that science opens up for you... that it's amazing what one class might be able to help you with down the road that you don't realize. I'm just grateful that I get to use it and to help kids become scientists," said Nelson.
Tools for Schools is a partnership between RCU and WQOW News 18. We are taking nominations for the next $300 award. You can apply right here.
