Reedsburg woman claims $1 million Powerball prize

MADISON (WKOW) -- A woman from Reedsburg came forward to claim her $1 million Powerball prize.

Catherine Andres brought in her winning ticket from the May 25 drawing to the Wisconsin Lottery's main office in Madison Wednesday.

Andres chose the lump sum option, bringing home an after-tax payment of $672,000.

Lottery officials say Andres only realized she had the $1 million ticket a few days ago. She and her husband usually wait to check their tickets until they go back to buy more. Her husband checked the ticket first and then she double checked it.

"Haven't gotten a wink of sleep since, " Andres told Lottery staff.

Andres bought her ticket at Viking Express Mart on Viking Drive in Reedsburg. For selling the $1 million ticket, the store earns a $20,000 commission from the Lottery.
