WQOW News 18 recognized for frac sand coverage

Eau Claire (WQOW) - In recent years, WQOW News 18 has devoted a lot of time and resources to cover the growth of the frac sand industry.  The station is now being recognized by a state organization for those reports.

Jerry Gallagher received a 2013 Media Award from the Wisconsin Public Health Association.  The award was presented at a regional public health meeting in Eau Claire on Wednesday.  Buffalo County Health Officer Jen Rombalski nominated Jerry and said the public had no reference point until journalists started covering the emerging industry.  "Jerry has just been providing quality stories to dig into the questions that people have so that they can have information and be going off of good solid information to make decisions and understand the issue better," said Rombalski.

WQOW News 18's coverage of frac sand mining continues.  There's an entire section devoted to the issue on this website which you can get to by clicking here.
