JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Janesville police arrested three people for burglary early Thursday morning, after they were spotted walking with batteries and tire rims, and allegedly left a cell phone at the scene of the crime.

A witness noticed two men and a woman carrying the items near the Davis Citgo gas station on South Main Street and East Racine Street and called police.

The caller recognized one of the men, but the suspects drove away before police arrived.

As officers talked with the witness, the two men, 45-year-old Marty Caban and 40-year-old Douglas Tuescher came back.  They denied the theft, saying they were simply dropping the woman off.  She's identified as 42-year-old Michelle Sturdevant.

Officers discovered a broken door at a business on Matthews Court and property there, similar to what the witness saw.

They also found a cell phone on the floor.  Police asked Caban to call Tuescher's cell phone and the cell phone found in the business rang.

Police later spoke with Michelle Sturdevant.  She initially denied any involvement in the burglary, but later confessed. Tuescher, Caban and Sturdevant remain in the Rock County jail awaiting court appearances.

Tuescher is facing charges of burglary, theft and parole violation.  Caban faces burglary as party to a crime, theft and parole violation charges and Sturdevant is held on charges of burglary as party to a crime and theft.
