MADISON (WKOW) -- The Monroe softball season came to a close at Goodman Diamond in the D2 state semifinal game, with the team's 6-0 lost to New London. The Cheesemakers were making their third straight trip to the state tournament, but it got off to a bad start as the Bulldogs scored three runs in the first inning. Monroe only compiled four hits in the game, as its season ends with a 27-3 record.
Sun Prairie fell earlier in the day on Thursday in a D1 quarterfinal game, 6-0 to Westosha Central. Westosha's Kayla Konwent had two hits and 5 RBI, as her team moves on to face Menomonee Falls in the semifinals on Friday. The Cardinals only had two hits in the game, as their season ends with a 22-3 record.
