Ragnar Relay Chicago race participants take off from Madison

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Ragnar Relay Chicago was designed for runners who know how to have a good time.

Runners will start from Madison and finish the race in Chicago. Participants call it the "adult slumber party." There will be vans painted, bright lights and reflectors at the start of the race. Participants come from around the country. Forty-four states are represented at this race.

It's called the overnight running relay race. Twelve people pile into two vans and tag team running 200 miles, day and night, to Chicago. Each participant runs three times with each leg between three and eight miles. The course varies in difficulty. Race organizers say this race is for elite runners and novice joggers.

Participants will start in Madison and run through parts of Milwaukee and then head south to Chicago. They will finish at Montrose Beach in Lincoln Park.

The race will take two days and one night to complete.
