Area toddler recovering well after fourth heart surgery

Eau Claire (WQOW)- A two-year-old Eau Claire boy is recovering in a Boston hospital Friday night.

WQOW first told you about Dylan Dainger Snyder last month.  Earlier this week, he underwent his fourth open heart surgery for a heart defect he was born with.

His mom says he is doing well and is expected to spend at least a month in the hospital.  He was born with only half of one ventricle in his heart and experts said he would need a heart transplant one day.  But after this surgery, he now has two fully-functioning ventricles and doctors hope that he will now be able to live the same as any other healthy child.  His mom also says Dylan is one of only 50 children in the world who has had a biventrical repair surgery.
