MADISON (WKOW) -- The Mineral Point softball team made history, winning the school's first state softball title in its history 7-2 over Kenosha St. Josephs. The Lady Lancers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Mineral Point was able to tie it on a sacfrifice fly in the third. Kenosha St. Josephs thought it had caught the third out of the 3rd inning with the score tied at 2, but an illegal pitch from Maddy Chase kept the inning alive. Mineral Point took advantage scoring three runs on a 2 RBI single by Emily Wood, and Emily McCoy scored on an error, as the Pointers took a 5-2 lead. Mineral Point added one more in the 4th on another illegal pitch and another in the 6th.
