Black River Falls (WQOW) - Police continue to search for the suspect in the death of a woman in Black River Falls, but there is some good news to report.  A woman they were also looking for has been found safe.          

Billie Jo Harwick was last seen Saturday night. Police believed she was with the suspect. She called her family from Madison Tuesday. Officers found her unharmed. She is being cooperative, and says she was with Michael Harmon.

Harmon was last seen in Milwaukee, but police say they aren't sure where he is now. They say he should be considered armed and dangerous.  He's a suspect in the death of Angela Nelson.  Her body was found Sunday night in her bathtub at a home off Chestnut Street in Black River Falls.


Press Release from the Black River Falls Police Department: On June 11, 2013, during the afternoon hours Billie Jo Harwick contacted her family by telephone stating that she was in Madison, WI.  The family contacted law enforcement authorities, who then responded and found Harwick in the City of Madison along with her vehicle, a 2002 Legacy Outback.  Harwick was found unharmed, was cooperative with law enforcement authorities and provided a detailed statement of her whereabouts for the previous three days.  Harwick also admitted that she had been in the company of Michael Harmon. 
Harmon was last seen in the City of Milwaukee but his whereabouts at this time is unknown.  Harmon should be considered armed and dangerous, and is a suspect in the death of Angela M. Nelson.  Anyone with information on Harmon's whereabouts should contact the Black River Falls Police or local authorities.


Press Release from the Black River Falls Police Department: Based on the evidence collected  at 339 1/2 Chestnut Street the results of the autopsy, Law Enforcement has determined manner of death to be homicide. The victim in this case is 34-year-old Angela Nelson.

We are not prepared to release the cause of death until the person responsible for Angela's death has been arrested.

We are still looking for Michael Harmon in connection with the homicide. We believe he may be in the company of 32-year-old Billie Jo Harwick and they may be traveling in a 2002 white Legacy Outback with a plate of 521TJR.

Additionally, we believe Harmon may be armed so if you see Harmon do not approach him.


BLACK RIVER FALLS (WXOW) - Black River Falls Police Chief David Frederick says that they are now classifying the suspicious death of a woman found Sunday as a homicide and that the roommate police are looking for is officially a suspect in the case.

Frederick says that they have determined the death is a homicide, but wouldn't give details on how the woman died.

The man police say is the woman's roommate, Michael Harmon, is now a suspect in the homicide. Chief Frederick said that they consider Harmon armed and dangerous. They are actively pursuing leads to locate Harmon, who disappeared following the homicide.

Chief Frederick asks for the public's help in locating Harmon.

Police ask anyone who sees Harmon or has information that could aid their investigation to call the Black River Falls Police Department at (715) 284-9155.


BLACK RIVER FALLS (WXOW) - An investigation is underway into the death of a woman found inside a Black River Falls apartment Sunday night. Police also want to talk to the last person seen with the victim.

According to a release from the Black River Falls Police Department, officers were called to 339 1/2 Chestnut Street around 7 p.m. for a welfare check.

Inside the apartment, they found the body of a woman.  The owner of the apartment says that the woman's body was found in the bathtub. The landlord said the woman had moved into the apartment about four days ago. 

Black River Falls Police say in the release that preliminary investigation shows the woman's death was not the result of natural causes. The victim's body was taken to Madison for an autopsy that is ongoing Monday afternoon to determine the cause of death.

Based on what investigators found at the scene, Black River Falls Police said there is no reason to believe the public is in danger at this time.

Police are looking for a man identified as Michael Harmon, the last known person to be with the victim. His whereabouts are not known as of Monday afternoon.

Earlier reports sent out to area law enforcement agencies asked to be on the lookout for a green Mercury Sable.  The car belonged to the victim. Police say the vehicle was recovered just outside of Black River Falls.


BLACK RIVER FALLS (Press Release) - On Sunday, June 9, 2013 around 7 p.m. the Black River Falls Police Department was contacted to check the welfare of an occupant at 339 1/2 Chestnut Street in the City of Black River Falls.

Upon entering the residence, officers discovered the body of a deceased female.

Her name will not be released pending notification of the family.

Based on the information received at this time there is no reason to believe there is danger to the public.

Preliminary investigation indicates the death was not the result of natural causes and we are not speculating the cause of death pending the autopsy.

The victim has been transported to the forensic pathologist's office in Madison.

The officers are trying to locate the last known individual to have contact with the victim.

That person is Michael Harmon. His location is unknown at this time.


BLACK RIVER FALLS (WXOW) - Investigators and officers from several jurisdictions are at a home in Black River Falls for a suspicious death.

Black River Falls Police, the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation, Jackson County Sheriff's Department and Wisconsin State Patrol are on the scene at the home at the corner of Jefferson and Chestnut Streets in Black River Falls. Crime scene tape surrounds the scene.

Little information is coming from officials at this point.

The name of the victim in the investigation is being withheld.
