K9 Josh locates missing elderly man

MADISON (WKOW) -- A north side Madison family is very relieved after K9 Josh found a missing 83-year-old man early Saturday morning.

The man's wife said she last knew her husband was in bed around 11:00 Friday night.  When she awoke around 3:15 a.m., she noticed he was gone.

The elderly man suffers from dementia, however, he does go for very long walks.  K9 Josh and his handler, Officer Teresa McKenzie, located the man not farm from his Northport Drive home.  He was dirty and appeared to have been walking for quite some time.

The MPD recently hosted a K9 tracking training for other law enforcement agencies, and part of the curriculum was how to search for missing persons.
