New ultrasound bill could close Planned Parenthood Center

MADISON (WKOW) -- A bill that would require doctors to provide or arrange an ultrasound for women seeking abortions has advanced out of a Senate committee.

The bill was sponsored by Republican senator Mary Lazich.  It would require that doctors have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of where the abortion would be performed.

It would also require that physicians perform or arrange for ultrasounds for women seeking abortions.

Planned Parenthood says it would close its Appleton abortion facility if the bill gets signed into law.
