WI DNR hires new deer, elk researcher

MADISON (WKOW) – Wisconsin wildlife officials have named a new deer and elk researcher.

Dan Storm joined the Department of Natural Resources last year as a researcher and studied deer-vehicle collisions and furbearer monitoring.  As the new deer and elk researcher, Storm will study buck and fawn mortality and the nutritional condition of car-killed deer.

Storm will also serve as a consultant on deer and elk issues for DNR managers.

DNR Wildlife and Forestry Section Chief Karl Martin says the agency moved Storm into the position on June 2 after his predecessor, Jared Duquette, resigned.
