WI police summit to focus on child safety

MADISON (WKOW) – Police from all over Wisconsin will meet in Wisconsin Dells for Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen's annual public safety summit.

At the summit, school security expert Ken Trump will talk about how to best protect schools in the wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut last year.  Other breakout sessions will include discussions about what can lead to sexual assaults, school bullying and emerging trends in child exploitation.

Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards will speak about his agency and how they responded to a gunman who killed six people at a Sikh temple in Milwaukee last summer.

The summit will start on Wednesday at the Chula Vista Conference Center.
