WI man makes cross-country adventure to raise sustainability awareness


MADISON (WKOW) -- An Ashland, Wisconsin man goes on a cross-country adventure to raise awareness about sustainability.

He's trying to leave virtually no carbon footprint. Rob Greenfield is taking his trash with him in order to not leave a carbon footprint. Rob started in San Francisco on April 20th and has traveled through states like Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri.

He makes a stop in Madison and then will travel to Milwaukee, Chicago then onto Ohio and Pennsylvania. He plans to end his journey in Waitsfield, Vermont on August 1st.

By the end of the trip, Rob would have traveled more than 4,300 miles. He has a bamboo bike and solar panels.

So, far Rob has picked up 4 pounds of trash. He has used 67 total gallons of water and planted thousands of plants.
