Man impersonates police in Green Lake County

GREEN LAKE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Authorities in Green Lake County are searching for a man they believe is impersonating police.

Wednesday night, officers got a report of a man wearing a dark uniform conducting a traffic stop about four miles west of the City of Berlin.  The caller told police the man's uniform had a badge and duty belt, but no name tag.

Police describe the vehicle in this incident as a black Ford Crown Victoria with "Police" on the side and "911" on the rear quarter panel.  It has red and blue lights on the inside dash.

The suspicious man gave the caller a warning, then followed him, driving east into the City of Berlin, then into Winnebago County and all the way to the west end of Oshkosh.

At that point, police say the suspicious vehicle turned around and headed back to the west.

The Green Lake County Sheriff's Office is investigating this incident and is asking drivers to report any similar vehicles or incidents.
